The Mature Unmanned Aircraft Ground Control Station (MUAGCS)

چکیده
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are a novel component in the aviation system, offering advancements which may open new and improved civil/military applications as well as improvements to the safety and efficiency of all civil aviation. Progressive improvements of today’s UAS in several areas, e.g. reliability, interoperability, networked capabilities, mission planning, safety monitoring and user friendliness, will consequently lead to the requirement of advanced common Ground Control Systems (GCS). These should be based on a common understanding of existing interoperability standards and apply those standards in all command and control capabilities offered, from pre-flight mission planning to debriefing. Interoperability as one of the key factors will not only increase the flexibility and efficiency to meet mission objectives through the sharing of assets, but will also facilitate a common utilization of the information generated from UA systems. In order to validate the design of a future GCS, operational testing in a safe environment is necessary. In this paper a UA GCS is described that is based on existing interoperability standards and is designed with an open and flexible architecture. This presented approach enables the applicability of the MUAGCS not only with different (or even multiple) UAS, but also in combination with various simulation facilities and environments.

Cooperative Electronic Chaining Using Small Unmanned Aircraft
When using a team of small unmanned aircraft, with no satellite communications, the operational range of the team is typically limited by line-of-sight communication constraints between an individual aircraft and a ground station, and not the endurance range of the individual aircraft within the team. By using electronic chaining to form a multi-hop communication link using the team, the overal...
متن کاملEvaluation of separation strategies for Unmanned Aerial Systems
This paper analyzes loss of separation scenarios when an Unmanned Aircraft (UA) enters in conflict with a much faster airplane flying at the same altitude. Separation distances are analyzed in terms of minimum heading changes and reaction times. Results show that maneuvers need to be performed well in advance if the (low-speed) UA is the aircraft that changes its heading. In some cases the time...

This paper proposes a switching adaptive control for trajectory tracking of unmanned aircraft systems. The switching adaptive control method is designed to overcome the wind disturbance and achieve a proper tracking performance for control systems. In the suggested system, the wind disturbance is regarded as a finite set of uncertainties; a controller is designed for each uncertainty, and a per...

The feasibility of using a stand alone Fluidic Thrust-Vectoring (FTV) system for the purpose of longitudinal trim of an unmanned aerial vehicle is the focus of the research presented in this paper. Since the fluidic thrust vectoring requires high pressure secondary air to deflect the engine exhaust gases, this research also provides an analytical toolset for preliminary sizing of a suitable sec...
